When the work sells it will be allowed to be taken by the collector almost immediately and more work could be set in its place so there will always be something new to see, or something you might miss.

First Reception for the Artists, Press and Public May 10th    6pm to 10pm

WHY?
Upon speaking personally with artists I began to see a pattern;
We (galleries) display the work for about 6 weeks, and then someone else's and so on and so on....creating an out-of-sight-out-of-mind dynamic with audiences and a disruptive, stressful work environment for artists.

The reaction by artists is to show as much as possible, even if it means at as many galleries as will have them. The reaction by galleries is to try and find the "one/s" that will get them noticed.

As a result it takes a long time for an artist to be recognized and a long time for a gallery to build a reputation.

FURTHERMORE…
There is a rumor out there that a gallery will not get a review unless they show solo shows. Even though this is a worry and false solution by colleagues and artists who don't get press, it does however, point toward the mystery of art journalism that so many are trying to grasp.

Stacy Elaine DacheuxTHEREFORE, We invited an author whose project will be a pun on art reviews: "Project Journalism Revisited" exhibiting author, Stacy Elaine Dacheux.
