Paige Wery

Paige Wery

Paige Wery's Studio

Paige Wery has been showing with Gallery Revisited since our inauguration in 2003. Her work fills a void – there is really nothing quite like it around, and in this age of appropriation & constant debates about originality, Paige’s work is its own. Her humor shines through in her subject matter on the front of the canvas as well as in the compulsive & elaborate streams of consciousness phrasing that is written on the back and more recently, on the front of each piece. It is a vicarious way to see into the mind of an artist at work, by reading the hidden diatribes, rants, historical references & song titles.

Paige paints with a heavy impasto, building layers & layers of paint – sometimes as high as 1 inch thick. She also incorporates collage, using cut out paper shapes or animals, glitter, stickers, thread – everything in her studio is used, but nothing randomly selected – everything carefully placed.

In September 2007 we were pleased to present Wery's first solo exhibition which gleaned press from NBC News, ArtUS review by Christopher Russell and commentary by Shana Dambrot of Uber to name a few. Recently, she became the Publisher of Artillery Magazine and continues to work in the studio on new and compelling art and ideas.
